I was co-opted to the Silverdale Normal School’s Board of Trustees in March 2009. As a parent I find the chance to contribute to the strategic management of the school a privilege, and an opportunity to represent the growing number of International students and their parents.
I’m originally from Egypt and have been living in New Zealand since the mid 1990s. My qualifications are in Management and Psychology. I have held a number of executive positions in Sales and Marketing, and Hospitality; and I am currently working as the University of Waikato’s International Exchange Programme Coordinator.
I enjoy soccer (both to play and watch) and fishing in my imaginary spare time. My wife Jane and I have our daughter (Aliyah) in Year two at Silverdale and watching her develop both academically and socially is a great encouragement and a practical evidence of the quality of teaching and care at this school.

Hello I'm Jeremy Sales and I have been on the Board for just over a year. My wife, Lalage, is a Natural Fertility Adviser. We have three boys - the eldest (Ethan) is at Silverdale, the middle one (Fletcher) is at Hillcrest Kindergarten, and the youngest (Gabriel) keeps Mum busy. I am a Teacher of ICT and Business Studies at Hillcrest High School. I also have a background in information technology, having previously spent 11 years in the IT industry. It is a pleasure to work for the benefit of our children on the board at Silverdale.

I feel honoured and very privileged to be the Principal of Silverdale Normal
School.
Silverdale is a vibrant interesting place in which to be. The school
population is ethnically, culturally and socially diverse. The learning
opportunities it offers are varied and exciting.
That it is a normal school, and thus involved with educating the next
generation of teachers, is an extra bonus.
I enjoy being part of such an attractive learning environment with many
excellent amenities. But most of all I appreciate the wonderful
people-resources – the children and staff within the school, the parents and
extended families within the wider community.
I intend to work with the school community to ensure that when young
people leave Silverdale Normal School they are equipped to participate
successfully as active, contributing citizens at both a local and a global
Level.

I am the full time attached School of Education Liaison Teacher and the
school SENCO at Silverdale Normal School and I have had 27 years of association with the
school. Both my two children attended this school and now two of my
grandchildren are attending. I have been a member of the Parent Teacher Group continuously since my children started school, both in my roles as parent, grandparent and as a teacher. I carry a number of responsibilities over and above the SOE and
SENCO responsibilities and I am also a part of the School Leadership Team. I
am always proud to be associated with this school, which has always aimed
highly at academic and lifelong learning, building positive relationships
and valuing and respecting everyone involved in our culturally diverse
school community.

Hi, I’m the newest member of your Board of Trustees. My employment background is Chef Work and my husband David is involved in Science. Our family came to Hamilton 5 years ago, soon before our children began school. Silverdale Normal was our first and best choice as the initial place to start this journey in a life of learning. I am pleased to be a part of a school that is culturally diverse yet diminutive, also surrounded by a studious community that we now call ours. And I look forward to seeing the continual growth of all the children from Silverdale, in the forth coming years. |
