Dear Parents / Caregivers,
Silverdale Normal School Board of Trustees offers a Before School Care and After School Care programme to children attending our school. Individual children are admitted to the programme at the discretion of the Management Team.
A childcare subsidy was introduced in 1999 with Work and Income New Zealand to help lower income families with the cost of ‘out of school’ care for their school age children. It is called the OSCAR subsidy and it covers care before and after school and during the school holidays for children up to the age of 14. The Before School Care Programme is held in the Student Common Room and is available from 7.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. daily.
Breakfast will be only available between 7.30 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. daily.
The After School Care Programme is held in the Student Common Room and is available from 3.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. daily.
The rates of our Before and After School Care programme are as follows:
One child: $6.00 per hour
$3.00 per half hour
Two children: $10.00 per hour
$5.00 per half hour
Three children: $14.00 per hour
$7.00 per half hour
All Before and After School Care must be paid for in advance at the School Office. This will enable your child/ren to attend the programme. The Board asks that you purchase enough credit to cover your child/ren’s care at least one week in advance. Payments may also be made by direct credit or automatic payment into our account. Deposit forms are available from the School Office.
All children must be signed into the Before School Care Programme and signed out of the After School Care Programme. The person signing the children in or out these programmes must be 14 years or older.
In the interest of the children’s safety and welfare it would be greatly appreciated if you could let the Before / After School Care or Office Staff know in advance when your child / children will be attending. If your child is booked into the programme and the school is not notified of your child’s non-attendance, you will be charged an hour’s attendance fee. Frances can be contacted at After School Care after 3.00 p.m. on 856 4358 or at home, on 854-0444, in the evening for before school care If your child attends on a regular basis, please phone the School Office if he / she will be absent.
We would like to hear from you if you have any complaints. Our school has a complaints policy and procedure to follow.
If you wish someone else to collect your child who is unknown to our Supervisors, please let them know, otherwise they will not release your child. A quick phone call or note to our After School Care Supervisors would prevent this embarrassment.
