I consider myself very lucky to have an office at Silverdale Normal School within my role as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour. I work with teachers throughout the Hamilton area to find strategies to support changes and progress for our students with learning and behavioural challenges.
It is my passion to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to participate fully within their classroom environment, and to learn and achieve to the best of their ability.
The staff and students at SNS welcome us as part of their wider family.
Although I work in other schools in Hamilton, and am employed by Nawton School, this is a great place to have as a base as this is such a friendly, helpful, inclusive environment.
I began teaching in the King Country in 1974 with juniors. Over 45 years in education I have taught at all levels up to year 10. I have also run study skills groups for years 11-13. I have been a Special Education Advisor for the MOE and involved in the working party that set up the RTLB role and was appointed in 1998. I work predominantly in behaviour in the upper school. Also am a accredited Facilitator for Incredible Years for Teachers. My husband and I moved to Hamilton to be closer to family in 2007 where i have been an RTLB based at Hamilton East and now here at Silverdale.
